As most of you may know, me and my mother always pick a word for the new year. After some thought I realized that 2014 would be about finding joy in the journey and not the destination. It would be about looking around me and realizing that where we are now in life is wonderful. We all can have wonderful experiences with the people we meet and the places we travel. We can find joy in the mundane things we do everyday.
I have really enjoyed some of the journeys that 2014 has brought me already. Starting work at the MaryBabb Randolph Cancer Center and finally having an income again has been fun. It has definitely helped me realize how blessed I am. Meeting others who have a life threatening illness reminds me to stop and look around at how wonderful life really is. The job has been a blessing and has really helped me put my word for this year to good use.
This past weekend, I was able to attend a Valentine's Dance in the beautiful city of Pittsburgh! I love Pittsburgh! It is such a beautiful city! Everyone needs to experience the drive through the tunnel when the city just opens up as soon as you drive out of it! Its a breathtaking experience. Anyway, back to the dance. My mother and I(well mostly my mother) made a tutu skirt for the event. It turned out amazing! (Thanks Mom!)
Here is a good picture of the finished product!
So I had an adventure going to pick up my friend Heather...I got a little lost and I swear my GPS wanted to take me off the side of the mountain. After my adventure picking up Heather, we headed to Morgantown to pick up Jescha and to head into Pittsburgh. We arrived at the dance and had so much fun dancing the night away. We all looked gorgeous of course!
Here we are!
Here we are!
You know we are great friends when we paint our nails exactly the same colors just opposite! Great minds think alike I guess:)
It was a fun night filled with building new friendships and lots of laughs....like almost dying driving too fast getting off on an exit. As Heather and I were holding on for dear life! We laughed for about a half hour after the incident. We also held our breathe through the pittsburgh tunnel just because we could! So much fun! I truly had an adventure and enjoyed every minute of the journey.
Well that really has been my year so far. Just learning to look around and see the good in everyone and everything as I go through this journey. I will try and keep you all updated on how that is going through this great year!
